The partnership Brain Health
Brain Health is a partnership within the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe. Forte is part of the partnership together with over 50 other partner institutions. Brain Health has a total planned budget of approximately 500 million Euro and is one of the largest collaborative efforts in brain research worldwide.
With a mission to improve brain health globally
The partnership Brain Health’s ultimate goal is to preserve and promote brain health in society and to enhance the well-being of people with neurological and mental health conditions in Europe and worldwide.
How will the partnership contribute?
Brain disorders are a leading cause of disability and mortality globally, representing a great challenge for people living with brain disorders themselves, their families, social relations, professional and informal carers. Brain disorders also create enormous financial pressure on healthcare systems and economies. It is thus crucial to identify the factors that influence brain health throughout life, from prenatal stages to advanced age, as well as methods to monitor them, influence them, or both. Brain Health aims to develop scientific knowledge to address these challenges.
Calls within the partnership
Brain Health launched its first two calls for proposals at the beginning of 2026. From the Swedish side, Forte participates in call 1, and the Swedish Research Council in call 2. Forte contributes with approximately 15 million SEK to call 1.
