Brain health 2026
Forte is participating in the call JTC2026 Call 1: Neurological Mental Sensory Disorders administered through the newly established European partnership for Brain Health. Forte will support this call with approximately 15 million SEK.

Observe that Swedish applicants who later are invited to submit a full proposal to Brain Health must also register their proposal to Forte through Prisma. The application in Prisma opens 28 may.

Scope of the call
The aim of the call is to facilitate multinational, collaborative and interdisciplinary research that addresses critical translational questions. Applications for this call, should address how biological, social and environmental factors affect the trajectory of neurological, mental and sensory disorders across the lifespan. The research should have the potential to improve early detection, preventive measures, treatments and support for people affected.

About the grant
In this call, funding may be applied for projects lasting a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years. Only transnational projects will be funded. Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve a minimum of three research partners eligible for funding.
Evaluation and funding decisions are made at international level, but each partner in the consortium is funded by their respective national or regional funding organisation.

Requirements from Forte
You can only participate as a Swedish partner or coordinator in one proposal submitted to Call 1.
For Forte to approve Swedish applicants, the applicant must have completed a doctoral degree. To be able to apply for a grant, a Swedish university or another research funding body must administrate the funding and have an organisational account in Prisma. The administering organisation should apply for this in due time via Prisma External link..

- The call opens for pre-proposals to Brain Health: 8 January 2026
- Deadline for submission of pre-proposal to Brain Health: 10 March 2026 (no pre-proposals to Forte in Prisma)
- Invitation to submit full proposal to Brain Health: 25-26 May 2026
- Deadline for submission of full-proposal to Brain Health: preliminarily 30 June
- Forte opens for registration of full proposal in Prisma: 28 May, at 10:00
- Deadline for registration of full proposal in Prisma: 2 July, at 14:00
- Decision from Brain Health: preliminarily October 2026
- Project start: Spring 2027

Application
Proposals should be submitted via the Brain Health portal.
Swedish applicants who later are invited to submit a full proposal must also register the Swedish part of their Brain Health-project to Forte in Prisma. The application in Prisma opens May 28 at 10.00 CET. More information and instructions will be published here later.
Two parallell calls within Brain Health
This is one of two calls within the partnership that opened 8 January 2026. Forte participates in Call 1, and the Swedish Research Council participates in Call 2. It is not permitted to submit the same proposal to both calls.
Please note: that each funding organisation has its own national or regional eligibility requirements. Therefore, it is very important to consult the National Annex, where all national and regional requirements are compiled into one document.

Call 2
Brain Health
Brain Health is an upcoming partnership within the EU framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe. Forte is part of the partnership, which brings together 51 partners from 31 countries with the shared goal of improving brain health for all. The partnership builds in part on the predecessors JPND and ERA-NET NEURON.
